Fallen Earth offers up microtransactions in the FE Store
Paying a subscription fee to play an MMO and being offered an item mall is pretty normal these days. To name a few: World of Warcraft does it, City of Heroes does it, and Everquest does it. Today Fallen Earth gets added to the list with the introduction of the Fallen Earth store.
Currently, there are two things for sale in the FE Store. You can pick up a Kaibab Cur pet dog seen on the right or you can purchase Brass Goggles. The dog is similar to the Wasteland Mutt available in game but with one big difference. The Kaibab Cur dog can carry a few things for you. He comes equipped with four inventory slots.
The other item up for sale at the FE Store is a set of Brass Goggles. The goggles look stylish but also offer level seven protection against several types of damage. Neither item is truly game changing and both are appropriate as purchasable items. The Kaibab Cur is $10 and the Brass Goggles are $5. I doubt the folks at FE will put up anything that makes a character super-awesome. We can expect social items, vanity perks, and the like at the FE Store.
It looks like the optional item mall in addition to a subscription fee is here to stay. I've got to admit, though, it doesn't bother me when a game like this cashes in. At least I feel like they need the money.
